The short version

Grow freely, treat health carefully.

Food as medicine is a way of eating and living. It is not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment.

Not medical advice

Everything written here about plants, teas, juices, poultices and food preparation is shared as traditional, cultural and nutritional knowledge. It is education, not diagnosis, treatment or prescription. Nothing on this site replaces care from a doctor, nurse, midwife, pharmacist or licensed herbalist.

Talk to a professional first

Speak with a qualified health professional before using any plant medicinally — especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, giving something to a child, managing diabetes, kidney or liver conditions, high or low blood pressure, or taking prescription medicine. Several plants in this guild interact with medication.

Identify before you eat

Plant names vary by region and some edible plants have toxic look-alikes. Identify every plant with a knowledgeable local grower before eating or preparing it. Some plants here are safe only when cooked, only in small amounts, or only in certain parts. Start small, watch for reactions, and stop if anything feels wrong.

Your garden, your responsibility

Layouts, spacings, soil recipes and yields are a design and a worked plan, not a guarantee. Results change with your soil, rainfall, sun, seed source and care. You are responsible for your own site, tools, water safety and compliance with any local rules about planting, burning biochar, keeping animals, or selling food.

Yields and savings

Any figures about produce, preserving or household savings are illustrative planning numbers. They are not a promise of harvest, income or employment. Your climate, soil and season will differ.

Downloads and reuse

The printable guides are free to use, copy and teach from within your family, school or barangay. Please keep the health notes attached when you share them, and adapt plant choices to what is safe and available where you live.

In an emergency, or if a plant causes a reaction, contact your nearest health centre or emergency service immediately. Questions about this notice? Get in touch.
